About us:
Colorado Retail Systems is a point of sale,
cash register, scale and payment
processing company serving the retailers of Southern Colorado and Northern
New Mexico. Specializing in grocery store, general retail and restaurant
point
of sale (POS) systems, we enjoy a very favorable reputation for providing the
very best in sales and service to the retailers of our region.
History:
Founded in 1974, Colorado Retail Systems
started as Pueblo Office Equipment
by Bennie Farmer. Bennie was a service technician for the Sweda/Monroe
Business Equipment company that closed their Southern Colorado office in
Colorado Springs. Bennie saw this as an opportunity to start his own
company
and continue the excellent service he had provided to the retailers of this
area.
Through the years, Sweda
electro-mechanical cash registers became electronic
cash registers (ECRs), and the entire business started to change. As
computers
became more and more prevalent in our daily lives, POS software and hardware
started to replace ECRs. Retailers needed more than just the daily
sales totals
the ECRs provided. Bar code scanning, inventory capabilities,
item,
customer
and sales clerk movement data and electronic payment processing were
some
of the capabilities that retailers needed in their POS systems.
Bennie retired on November 1, 1994 and sold
the business to Pat and Debbie
Channel; his daughter and son-in-law. Pat and Debbie had worked for Bennie
since 1980, along with Debbie's brother, Dan Farmer.
Having established a very loyal grocery store clientele, Pat has concentrated
on
providing these grocers with their POS needs. Pat has also provided
general
retail stores with perpetual inventory systems.
Dan has found a niche with
restaurant/hospitality POS systems and has excelled
in that retail vertical market in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and the surrounding
area.
Debbie, Pat and Dan have continued to sell and service cash registers, scales
and supplies as this is the core of our business.
